Accounts Assistant

Adams FoodService Trading Ltd opened its doors to the catering world back in 1985. The family-owned businesses began its life on a corner of a street in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and today it has become the UK’s largest group of specialist catering cash and carry outlets with an annual turnover of circa £80m generated by 8 outlets serving thousands of catering customers around the country every week.
Due to continued growth, we now require an Accounts Assistant to work in our busy accounts team at our office in Bradford.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Posting Expense Ledger Invoices on both Adams Foodservice and Eve Transport ledgers.
2. Reconciling and posting Starling Expense claim accounts
3. Reconciling and posting petty cash expenses for both Branch and Head Office Staff.
4. Reconciling Expense Ledger supplier accounts.
5. Update of daily cash book for 5 group companies.
6. Reconciling bank balances for 8 bank accounts both daily and monthly.
7. Posting direct debits to supplier accounts on the Expense Ledger.
8. Assisting with “Cash in Transit” and Till reconciliations.
9. Assisting with weekly BACS payment runs for both Adams Foodservice & Eve Transport Expense Ledger.
10. Maintaining the HR system for both Adams Foodservice and Eve transport, to include
- Setting up new starters on the system.
- Completing “Right to Work” checks.
- Processing leavers.
- Inputting daily hours for Head Office staff to attendance register.
- Maintaining holiday and absence records.
- Various ad-hoc payroll duties.
11. Preparing and entering journals on General Ledger.
12. Maintaining bridge and road tolls accounts, topping up balances as necessary.
13. Maintaining road tax records and obtaining road tax as necessary for Eve Transport vehicles.
14. Logging and paying parking and road traffic fines.
**Essential Skills**
1. Excellent organisational and time-management skills to ensure that the office runs smoothly.
2. Solid low-level accountancy and basic bookkeeping skills
4. Solid understanding of financial systems and processes
5. Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data and make recommendations
6. The ability to function well in a team, as they need to provide support as needed
**Qualifications & Experience**
1. A Level’s or equivalent, such as BTEC National, Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping, or relevant NVQ.
2. Experience of working in an office preferred, although school leavers with limited work experience will be considered.
**Salary & Benefits**
1. Salary range £20,000 to £22,000.
2. 37.50 Hours per week Monday to Friday working 9.00 am to 5.30 pm with 1 hour for lunch.
3. Study support for weekend, evening or home study in the form of funding for training and exams.
4. 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays).
5. Salary sacrifice pension scheme.
6. Free on-site parking.
**Salary**: £250,000.00 per year
