**Job summary**:
We are seeking to appoint a self-motivated and innovative individual to the role of Consultant in Public Health for UKHSA East Midlands.

The post is a fixed term appointment and is suitable for both Medical Consultants and Non-Medical Consultants (Agenda for Change Band 8d).

This is a senior role within the health protection team and provides leadership, management, and support of the health protection function.

The Consultant in Public Health will play a key role in developing, shaping and assuring the health protection function, which may include managing individuals and teams, working closely with partners, and ensuring delivery of high-quality response and support systems.

**Job description**:
The post holder will have responsibility for developing and maintaining close working relationships both internally and with partner organisations.

1. Coordinate and oversee UKHSA’s local input, support and advice to inform:

- Needs assessment and defining of health protection priorities to protect the health of the population within available resources;
- Commissioning and commissioning decisions in providing an evidence-based rationale in order to support health protection delivery;
- Leading on workforce and organisational development of the Health Protection Service, and support to partner organisations in their health protection workforce development;
- Leading on service development and quality improvement of the East Midlands health protection function, and the wider health protection system;
- Develop and enhance the quality of the health protection programmes, improving outcomes and evaluating of impact;
- Supporting patient and public engagement through insight and community approaches to engagement;
- Supporting the focus on health protection related inequalities through monitoring, supporting strategies, and ensuring effectiveness of interventions.
