An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Cancer Coordinator to work within the Plastics Department at QVH. The Plastics services incorporates Burns, Breast, Skin, Facial Palsy and Hand Surgery as well as Trauma activity. This role will be a key point of contact and coordination for all cancer patients under the care of the Plastics service and will primarily be in the areas of Skin and Breast Surgery.

This important role will need to work closely with the QVH Oncology Hub, along with clinicians, managers, service coordinators and secretarial staff to ensure the trust is following its Cancer Access Policy and that patients progress through their oncology pathway with mínimal delay.

Co-ordinate, monitor and initiate appropriate changes within administrative processes along the patient pathway to ensure the patient’s journey is managed efficiently, smoothly and in accordance with targets and agreed timescales.
Utilise computerised tracking systems to locate case notes and investigation results.
Liaise with teams outside of the speciality, for example, GPs where appropriate to ensure a seamless patient journey.
Ensure patient information is maintained and updated on the appropriate patient information system.
Monitor patient attendance to appointments and re-arrange/book further appointments as required.
To coordinate additional two-week wait clinics and See and Treat sessions as required.
Liaise closely with the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) coordinators and Cancer services Team.
Ensuring that test results, clinic letters and notes are available and communicated to the clinical team at the earliest opportunity to inform the next steps in the pathway.
Contact patients to provide instructions, reminders and information where necessary.
Arrange transport (in line with trust procedure) and translation services where necessary.
To move or re-schedule patients as appropriate.
To problem solve and exercise judgement when dealing with enquiries relating to patient pathways.
Schedule patients for treatment within breach and escalate delays in pathways or capacity issues where necessary.
