Overall purpose:
We are looking for a Housekeeping Assistant to join our Housekeeping Department, who are
responsible for thoroughly cleaning visitor and staff areas, and our on-site accommodation.
The team work across a seven-day operation, including while the Manor is open to the public.
Waddesdon Manor is a historic house, home to the Rothchild Collection which is a world-class
collection of fine and decorative arts. Today it is managed by the Rothschild Foundation, and
welcomes around 350,000 visitor annually. This makes Waddesdon a highly unique place to
work and means the Housekeeping Supervisor has to be adaptable and customer focused.

Key responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this role would require working on your own throughout the shift. The main
areas of responsibility for the Housekeeping Assistant are as follows:
- Cleaning allocated areas to the highest possible standard in the manor laid down by the
Head of Housekeeping & Supervisors
- Ensuring that the presentation of the areas for which they are responsible is to the
highest standard
- Throughout the day, continuously checking the Public Toilets. This involves ensuring
toilet rolls & paper towels are always available. Floors are always clean and soap
dispensers are topped up.
- The high standard that we uphold as Housekeeping are maintained throughout evening
events.
- Deep clean both buildings at Windmill Hill on a Sunday, providing no event is on. Subject
to change at any time.
- Ensuring that the cleaning stock cupboards are properly stocked
- If appropriate, during the absence of another Housekeeping Assistant, covering that
Housekeeping Assistant’s areas of responsibility in addition to their own, in agreement
with the Head of Housekeeping & Supervisors
- Reporting any maintenance or security issues to the Head of Housekeeping &
Supervisors
- If required, helping out at other areas around the Property, as directed by the Head of
Housekeeping & Supervisors
- Present a friendly and welcoming manner to all visitors during the course of the day.
You should be able to assist visitors with good general knowledge in order to provide
suggestions and directions if required.
- Develop excellent working relationships with all departments and ensure that
communications are efficient and friendly.
- Occasional evening events will require you to be flexible in order for the public toilets
to be maintained throughout the event.
- Six weeks out of the year, you will be required to cover the annual leave of the
housekeeper for the London offices. Travel expenses will be paid and full training will
be provided to cover this area.
Essential Attributes and requirements:
- A full clean UK driving licence
- Excellent attention to detail
- Efficient, flexible and adaptable
- High level of responsibility and integrity
- Customer friendly, and able to work in and around the public and with internal
- departments- The ability to carry out tasks methodically and efficiently
- The ability to follow instructions
- Good listening and communication skills, and the willingness to work with others and
- to adapt and compromise when best for the overall teamTerms & Conditions
Contract type: Permanent, Part Time
30 hours per week, working days include bank holidays. Wednesday to
Sunday, 10:00am-5:00pm.
to swap days, as business needs require, and as agreed with the Head of
Housekeeping.
Some evening work and flexibility of hours will be required to meet the needs
of the manor and the private estate. Notice will be provided and TOIL given
for any additional hours worked.
**Salary**: £17,846.40 per annum (FTE £22,308 per annum)
Holiday: From start date, 33 days (including public holiday) pro rata
After three full years of service: 36 days (including public holidays)
After five full years of service: 38 days (including public holidays)
After ten full years of services: 40 days (including public holidays)
