Main purpose of the job:
Main duties and responsibilities:

- Produce a variety of employment documentation (appointment letters, references, changes of terms).
- Acting as the initial contact for new starters, ensuring that their staff ID is arranged and buddies set up prior to start and that new starter files are correctly compiled and the full on-boarding process is completed
- Ensure that the HR database is kept up to date at all times by ensuring that new starters/leavers/changes are communicated to the HR Systems team as soon as information is received and support the development of the database.
- Take an active role in all aspects of the work of the HR Department - from checking eligibility to work in the UK to dealing with a variety of miscellaneous queries.
- Act as first point of contact for staff - either by phone or in person.
- Be responsible for ensuring that the dedicated HR inboxes are checked and that queries are dealt with quickly and effectively.
- Assist with hourly paid contracts and claims e.g. Visiting Lecturers, Consultants, External Advisers/Assessors/Examiners including using the MyPayClaims / VT2000 system.
- Carry out Employment checks, as appropriate (according to procedure).
- Provide ad hoc administrative support to the Director of HR and Deputy Director of HR, if required.
- Ensure that HR filing is accurately kept up to date and that documentation is archived appropriately.
- Other HR Administration as required, including jury service, probations, leaver administration, processing invoices for payment and expenses claims
