London, United Kingdom Change.org Full time

Every day, dozens of petitions are started on Change.org in the UK. Our UK campaigns team is uniquely placed to offer practical tools and coaching support to empower these petition organisers to grow their campaigns and achieve impact. We are looking for a Campaigner to join our small but mighty UK team.

A bit about Change.org: we’re a social impact business (a public benefit company), and the world's largest nonprofit-owned tech platform focused on civic action with 100m monthly users, 50,000+ campaigns launched on the site every month, and a 100% user-generated revenue model. Our users win campaigns for change once every hour. From helping to bring Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe home from imprisonment in Iran, to ending the Tampon Tax and supporting Awaab Ishak’s family to secure Awaab’s law (new regulation to protect social housing tenants from damp and mould); Change.org petitions have a huge impact on people’s lives in the UK and globally.

**Role Overview; **This Campaigner role mixes digital campaigning, storytelling and engagement tactics to advise petition organisers on how to win their campaigns. Working within a small team of UK campaigners, and collaborating with campaigners globally, you will work to empower organisers and movement leaders across the country to run successful campaigns and create big impact.

**Key Outcomes**:

- **Contribute to the delivery of Change.org’s campaigns support programme in the UK, **collaborating with the UK team to effectively support organisers to run big, impactful campaigns;
- **Successfully engage journalists and decision makers to further Change.org petitions**, supporting organisers to interview/meet with these stakeholders;
- **Be on top of compelling issues and news stories** to identify opportunities for impactful petitions and find individual organisers to lead these petitions;
- **Build and maintain relationships with organisations, activists,** and community members in key issue areas to facilitate the use of our platform for social change;
- **Contribute to the success of campaigns in our wider region and globally**; for example take part in brainstorms and support international campaigns.

**The most important skills and capabilities for the role are**:

- You’re confident at creating campaign strategy and tactics and understand what it takes to grow campaigns to involve as many people as possible, secure press and decision maker engagement, and ultimately win.
- You have lived experience of or experience working with communities that have experienced marginalisation/oppression.
- You have your finger on the pulse of what people across the UK are talking about online, in politics, and traditional media, and a good understanding of current social justice, economic, political and environmental issues.
- You have a can-do, positive attitude, are self-motivated and keen to learn. You flourish working in a low-structure, fast-paced team and have a willingness to take risks, to fail, and to adapt. You're driven by results, and you're always curious about how to improve your work.

Additional capabilities we’ll consider:

- Experience in either social business, nonprofits, campaigning or politics is a plus.

**Target experience**

You’ll probably have at least 2 years of campaigning experience, but not necessarily in a paid role. You could be a community organiser, a campaigner in a volunteer capacity, you could work in Parliament, you might be a journalist - or none of these at all What we’re looking for is someone who has most of the skills and capabilities, and can demonstrate how your experience shows this. You don’t need to have had “campaigner” in your job title before

**Interested? Great Here's what you should know**:
We especially encourage applicants of different backgrounds, cultures, genders, experiences, abilities and perspectives to apply. We’re actively working to increase the diversity of experience and perspectives on our team and are looking for someone who can help continue to lead that process.

Change.org is committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace. Everyone says this, right? Well, we mean it—we invest in serious programs to bring in and support women and people of colour, we have in-person onboarding experiences and affinity groups to help everyone feel included, we regularly celebrate the heritage of all staff, and we believe strongly in consistent, fair, and transparent salary scales to help level the playing field. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, national origin, or disability or veteran status.
