Part Time / 30 Hours Per Week / Permanent

Do you have substantial post qualifying childcare experience? Would you like to join a team of Independent Reviewing Officers and play a key role in improving the lives of children and families in Leicester.

We are currently recruiting for a 4 day permanent Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) who will chair children looked after Reviews and a variety of safeguarding meetings to promote safety, well-being and success for Leicester’s children. You will also be able to experience developing best practice and contribute to our Audit and Quality Assurance programme.

In our Unit you will experience a wide range of professionally chaired safeguarding meetings and learning events. You’ll join a dedicated team of experienced Independent Reviewing Officers, also working alongside the Independent Chairs of Child Protection Conferences, Independent Visitor Service, Safeguarding in Education Officers, LADO and Fostering Independent Reviewing Officer who all provide a rich and diverse level of creativity, innovation and safeguarding experiences.

Within this post you’ll work closely with other agencies in Leicester as well as being part of a regional network of independent chairs.

You will have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at Halford House or working remotely in line with the children/family plans, and consideration of your working pattern.

**What you’ll need**

You’ll have substantial post qualifying experience in childcare, through which experience you’ll have gained a thorough and up-to-date understanding of childcare legislation, policy, and practice guidance in the field of Children Looked After/Child Protection. In addition, you’ll have experience and be able to showcase the ability to demonstrate sufficient skills in chairing complex meetings. You must show willingness to support other demands if required in the Unit and wider division as noted to safeguard children. Your leadership skills are essential to us, to continue to drive quality services for children and their families, with a willingness to support other demands if required in the Unit as noted. The successful applicant will be provided with a good induction and receive a high level of support from within the team.

Appointment to this role will be based on a DBS, Driving Licence check and evidence of your Social Work qualification with an up-to-date Social Work England registration.
