**Purpose of Job**:
To project a positive and friendly image to all patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way.

Working alongside our knowledgeable Pharmacists and pharmacy team, you will be instrumental in the efficient delivery of pharmacy processes to ensure our customers are really taken care of. This role maintains a high level of competence to ensure the safe dispensing of medication to customers as well as being the experts that our customers can rely on.

The post holder will assist in the Health and Care for each patient as well as a rotation in the preparation, dispensing and sale of prescriptions and ove**r**-the-counter medicines/appliances and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the pharmacy.

**Job Purpose & Duties**

Learning how to tailor conversations with every customer to ensure they leave your pharmacy feeling informed and confident about their healthcare needs

Working towards delivering the technical aspects of the dispensary whilst ensuring the safe supply of medicines e.g. ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing and collection of prescriptions

Complying with legal and professional requirements and accepted guidance on professional practice

Seeking opportunities to engage with GPs and practice teams to drive services and items

**General Duties**

Participate in continuing education as identified whether personally or by the Pharmacy to maintain a high level of professional knowledge and skills

Promote the continuing professional development of yourself and other nurses and healthcare assistants, facilitating a learning culture within the team

Collection of prescription charges/checking patient exemption statements

Operation of efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage

Date and rotation of stock

Placing and checking stock orders

Ensure that drugs are received and stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions

Cleaning work surfaces and shelving on a regular basis and ensuring that all Pharmacy equipment is kept clean and in good working order and maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions

Undertaking other reasonable duties within the framework of the post as directed by the Manager or other team members

**Communication**

Pharmacy staff should recognize the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to:
Communicate effectively with other team members

Communicate effectively with patients and carers

Recognize people’s needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly

**Work Setting and Review**

Works under direct supervision of the dispensary ACT & Pharmacists

Ability to prioritise duties to ensure patients’ needs are met

**Individual Responsibilities**

Attendance and completion of mandatory training as directed by the pharmacy

Adhere to Pharmacy policies and procedures

Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development

Completion of necessary professional qualification, part of which the post holder will need to complete outside of working hours
