- Job description 1- Field Operations protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents.
The purpose of the role is to support our Field teams working in an operational environment and contributing to the management of our watercourses. The ideal person will have a diverse range of experience, be energetic, organised, and confident in representing the Environment Agency.
Key responsibilities:

- Supporting 4 Field Team Leaders with administrative work.
- Inputting, updating, and maintaining data and information systems ensuring records are stored in accordance with records management guidance.
- Booking hotels, trains and hire cars/vans.
- Populating a field team duty roster
- Using our finance system to raise orders / invoices.
- Managing Area lifejackets annual servicing with manufacturer
- Purchasing and management of PPE (personal protective equipment) supplies
- Coordinating staff training.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
This is a part-time role and you will be expected to work 3 full days a week (22.2 hours). Working days can be negotiated with your line manager.
- The team 1- Field teams are the workforce of the Environment Agency.
As our ‘frontline’ they provide operational response during flood events by operating our critical river and coastal assets 24/7. They also carry out an annual programme of maintenance, grass cutting, removal of obstructions from rivers and minor asset repairs.
You will be based at our Amwell End Depot in Ware and will work alongside our four East Teams.
- Experience/skills required 1 An approachable and helpful nature. A team player able to maintain positive working style and relationships internally and externally.
- Strong organizational skills - ability to multitask and prioritize workload under pressure to meet deadlines when required.
- Adept at using Microsoft Office, especially in Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with the flexibility to handle a diverse range of responsibilities and situations.
- Attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate results.
