**SUMMARY OF JOB**:
To assess the needs of families with children of 0-5 years to respond to families in need by offering support, advice and guidance appropriate to the situation and in the most appropriate setting.

To develop and deliver a preventative service and to provide support to improve the quality of care both within and outside the family environment.

To work alongside other partners in the area to provide a seamless service to families.

**RANGE OF DUTIES**:
1 Undertake assessments of the particular needs of families with children of 0-5 years and develop proposals for work.

2 Develop awareness of the needs of young children, contribute to their emotional, psychological and physical needs and where appropriate enable individuals to understand, accept and change their personal situation.

3 Develop, maintain and support, individually or in conjunction with others, a wide range of services to meet the needs of young children and their families.

4 Provide information for parents about the Children and Family Centre services and respond effectively to the needs of parents and children.

5 Use the resources of the multi-agency Children and Family Centre team to respond effectively to the needs of parents and children.

6 Assist in the early identification of special needs.

7 Follow procedures laid down in the Children and Family Centre for reporting any allegations of child abuse.

8 Attend case conferences and review meetings.

9 Assist in the development of support groups appropriate to the needs of the services.

10 Maintain accurate and up to date records and prepare reports as required

11 Assist in the preparation of service plans, targets and objective monitoring and evaluation of the outcomes of the programme.
