Assistant Psychologist Covid Hub

Llantrisant, United Kingdom Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board Full time

This is an exciting fixed-term Assistant Psychologist post (until end March 2023) to join an innovative COVID Recovery Hub. This is an opportunity to contribute to the COVID Hub and the growing Critical Care Psychology Service, providing a pan UHB service to all COVID survivors.

The CTMU COVID Recovery Hub is a community-based service comprised of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech & language therapists and rehabilitation assistants. It was created in response to the need for specialist services to support Post COVID Syndrome, or ‘Long COVID’ recovery. The unit receives referrals from Post-COVID clinics, GPs and from other services within CTMU.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Assistant Psychologist with an interest in post COVID recovery to gain some experience in this new specialty.

There will be opportunities to work with a range of stakeholders and participate in post-COVID multidisciplinary teams. Clinical supervision will be provided by the ICU Lead Clinical Psychologist with clinical support from experienced therapists.

The service is using an innovative approach to manage patients via telehealth, with triage and monitoring to identify if, and when they need a more intensive therapeutic intervention. As the condition and service are so new, the pathways and service will continue to be re-iterated and you will be involved in shaping these developments. We are taking a proactive approach to patient engagement to ensure the patient voice and perspective is fully incorporated into the service.

The post is embedded within services and based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, whilst located professionally and managerially with the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Psychology Service.

The Health Psychology Service is growing rapidly with current posts in a number of different services in addition to critical care, including cancer/palliative care, cardiac rehabilitation, neuropsychology, paediatrics, weight management and employee well-being, plus further new developments in additional specialities.

There are good links with the South Wales Clinical Doctorate programme in Cardiff University and other university courses in South Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
