**Case Responsible Officer, Prevention**
**£32,910 - £35,437 Dependant On Experience**

We are looking for 1.5 Targeted Prevention Practitioners to a high quality, effective and responsive service for children, young people and families with multiple needs. The key goal of helping them to build resilience and achieve and sustain improved outcomes.

The **Targeted Prevention Practitioner Role** will be a highly skilled and experienced practitioner and be able to work in a systemic model, collaboratively with families, taking responsibility and reflecting on practice with colleagues. You will have the ability to build and sustain relationships with children, young people, parents/carers, families, and other professionals and will be able to reflect, challenge and change and/or test your hypothesis in the face of conflicting evidence. We have one full time vacancy, and one half time vacancy with fixed term contracts to March 2025 to support delivery of the Turnaround Programme to support children who are on the edge of involvement with the criminal justice system.

- To improve life outcomes for the most vulnerable children and young people through enabling them to build pro-social skills and improving their future life prospects, supporting their families to successfully and sustainably look after them into adulthood._

We will aim to:

- Reduce the number of children and young people who come into contact with the youth justice system.
- Promote children’s and young people’s individual strengths and capabilities to develop their pro-social identify for positive outcomes and sustainable desistance.
- Reduce re-referrals into social care services.
- Increase school attendance.
- Create strong and resilient parents, who are able to manage children’s behaviour.
- Contribute towards tackling public health priorities for children and young people.

The targeted prevention practitioner, based within the Youth Justice Service, will be responsible for:

- Working with partner agencies to develop an integrated targeted prevention offer that prevents demand escalating within Youth Justice.
- Drawing on the ‘Child First’ evidence base to deliver bespoke support for children and their families on the periphery of offending, recognising children as children, their particular needs, rights, capacity and potential.
- Working with, and promoting a family (systemic) based approach, working with children in the context of the families and communities.
- Promote children’s individual strengths and capabilities as a way of developing pro-social identities and resilience for sustainable change.
- Responsible for completing comprehensive assessments, ensuring effective risk management and outcome focused plans are in place and interventions delivered.
- Managing a caseload of children with multiple complex and or undiagnosed needs.
- Using a range of skills in order to effectively create change for families and mobilise the strengths within.

This role is fixed term until March 2025

**Essential**:
You will have:

- Graduate or equivalent professional qualification (Level 4 NVQ, Social Care, Education, Youth Work, Advice & Guidance, LDSS, Criminal Justice, Health)
- Experience in a relevant area of work, eg Youth Work, Social Care, Family Support, Youth Offending, IAG
- Experience of working with young people, their families and communities, particularly those at risk of social and educational exclusion
