**Job summary**:
The National Cyber Force (NCF) is looking for an exceptional senior communications and engagement professional. You’ll be part of a motivated and passionate team at the heart of defence and national security, working collaboratively with partners, government, external stakeholders and international allies.

You will be experienced in developing and delivering communications and engagement activity, with a proven track record of high profile, ‘first of their kind’ campaigns. Your previous roles will have seen you take the lead on maximising new opportunities and dealing with sensitive issues. You’ll know a good story when you hear one, be able to develop authentic relationships that embody our partnership values and see the challenges of large complex organisations as puzzles your tenacity helps to solve.

**Job description**:
The Senior Communications and Engagement Officer’s primary responsibility is to support the development and delivery of the NCF strategic communications and engagement strategy and annual campaigns. By creating, identifying and responding to proactive and reactive opportunities, you will be instrumental in maintaining, protecting and evolving the NCF’s relationships with stakeholders critical to defence and national security. **Campaign planning and delivery**
- Lead on campaign planning and delivery through a network of cross-government communications and engagement teams, including cross-partner engagement.
- Lead on ensuring work aligns and integrates with strategic communications and engagement priorities, narratives and campaigns.
- Produce high quality proactive handling plans that include key products, press notices, potential risks, core scripts/briefings, technical journalist briefings and Q&A pack.
- Identify and manage opportunities to amplify and enhance core messages, such as public speeches and events in the UK and internationally.
- Ensure timely and effective media and parliamentary monitoring is in place, with evaluation that is turned into insight and shared across teams.
- Work at pace to get relevant information to draft effective responses in the context of wider departmental and government policies.

**Relationship management**
- Develop productive working relationships across the NCF, partner networks and wider government to understand stakeholders’ priorities, structures, policies and outcomes, and build these into communications and engagement objectives.
- Provide media training and coaching to leaders.

**Digital**
- Embed digital channels in all handling.
- Commission high quality content in house or via external agencies for use by stakeholders including media outlets.
- Work with digital teams to tailor messages and focus on image, graphic or video-led content for maximum impact.
- Build a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement to ensure content remains engaging and fresh.
- Understand data proception, consent, copyright and intellectual property law around the use of case studies and third-party content.

**Insight and evaluation**
- Identify clear and SMART communications and engagement objectives around outputs, outtakes and outcomes, including deciding success measurements and how data will be collected.
- Integrate different media - print, digital, broadcast - into evaluation to provide a comprehensive picture.
