**Job Overview**

A Warehouse Operative, ensures the safe receipt, storage and dispatch of warehouse goods. Their duties include taking/sending delivery of shipments, distribution and checking goods for damage or missing items and storing warehouse goods in an organised manner, ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with plans of work, legislative requirements and internal procedures.

**Accountabilities and Duties**
- Ensuring that all goods that are loaded or unloaded match the relevant paperwork
- Storing and rotating stock according to established procedures
- Reporting any damaged or missing goods to Warehouse Supervisor
- Keeping the warehouse environment clean and tidy and maintaining equipment
- Following workplace health and safety rules when handling goods
- Ensuring efficient operations by adhering to operational procedures, rules and schedules
- Assisting with warehouse inventory controls, which typically involves using a hand-held scanner and any other items used to support these measures
- Treating merchandise with care and concern at all times
- Taking responsibility for the company’s freight and assets by reporting any suspicious activity at work

A warehouse operative role provides a varied work day that includes:

- Assisting with the unloading and loading with couriers/vehicles/freight and the checking in and out of stock
- Sorting and placing materials or items on to racks and shelves
- Collecting items from throughout the warehouse, preparing, packaging and completing warehouse orders for delivery or pickup according to a schedule
- Performing warehouse inventory controls via scanner and or through a computer
- Stock counting and location checks

As a warehouse operative you will be working both alone and as part of a team with efficiency and commitment to complete your work and strive to maintain the business performance targets.

This role best suits upbeat and self-motivated individuals who enjoy working systematically and productively. The fast paced and energised environment relies on organisation and efficiency and with so much ground to cover in the line of duty it is important to ensure that you have a moderate level of fitness to enable you to comfortably carry out your tasks.

Picking and packing products can involve a substantial amount of manual handling including bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching and lifting. Having a good range of mobility is important to ensure you can work safely within health and safety regulations without placing undue strain on your body.

The company warehouse(s) may be located on the outskirts of cities, towns and villages and are positioned on large industrial landscapes with good access to main roads for the ease of goods transportation. Due to the location, warehouses are not always located on or near a bus route so travel to work may need some prior planning if you do not have a car.

Skills needed:

- Good organisational and Essential IT skills (particularly Microsoft, Excel)
- Reliability and dependability, attention to detail and care, organised
- Literacy & numeracy
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, requires lifting, manual handling
- Self-motivated
- Boxing up items, despatching, booking in goods, receiving goods from couriers
- Attention to warehouse tidiness/cleanliness
- Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks
- Team player

Desirable requirements:

- Driving licence/own vehicle
- Stock refurbishment (training given)

Liaise with clients and regulators during site visits and resolve any issues that may be identified, consulting with the Supervisor where required.

Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the company quality, safety and environmental systems, in particular the requirements, method statements and risk assessments.

Ensuring all staff are aware of and working at all times in compliance with the above.

Ensuring all required records are maintained and issued/submitted in a timely manner.

Completion of consignment notes and/or waste transfer notes as appropriate for carriage of waste.

Assist internal and external audit processes and act on the findings.

Ensure non-compliance reports are completed proactively where occurrences require and that the business is able to learn from its mistakes and create sustainable improvements.

Ensure personal monitoring requirements are fulfilled in accordance with regulations.

Ensure unauthorised personnel are protected from all working areas
