Business Banking is a strategically critical business unit for Barclays UK, generating over £1bn. It is also crucial to the UK economy - supporting over 100k start-up businesses per year, providing c. 20% of all SME lending in the UK and with a market leading client base of circa 1 million small business and community accounts.

Business Banking Product and Propositions are tasked with developing, pricing, maintaining, and retiring all business banking products and propositions for Barclays UK. This includes having overall accountability for the business banking P&L, and ensuring all products are operated in a way that aligns with our values and Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework (ERMF). As a result, this team represents the first line of defence against all key risks relevant to product design and delivery

What will you be doing
- The Head of Transactions & Liquidity reports to the Head of Business Banking Products & Platforms and is accountable for the build and management of the core banking, deposit products, digital channels, payments, and oversight of our HVC, ensuring they are operated in a way that aligns with our values
- Drive the continuous improvement of all transactional experiences - thereby minimising complaints, maximising client satisfaction, and delivering active customer base growth. The individual will be required to display strategic leadership to ensure that the team act as the first line of defence against all key risks relevant to product design and delivery.
- Set and deliver the product plan for the core banking and deposits business each year - including the financial plan, and defining targets for all other key performance indicators
- P&L responsibility through accountability for designing and maintaining the core banking and deposit product portfolio
- Set pricing for all current and deposits accounts, and transactional services, ensuring all transactions deliver viable returns over the long term
- Responsible for the digital channels utilised exclusively by our high value customers, including continuous optimisation
- Build and manage a team of product and channel managers -developing and retaining top talent through a high-performance culture that rewards creativity, hard work and role model behaviours that align to our values
- Ensuring all current and deposit accounts and transaction pricing is market leading in terms of its simplicity, fairness and transparency, whilst delivering a viable cost/income ratio for all segments
- Making sure the business core banking product set is always compliant with all internal risk frameworks, and external regulation/legislation
- This role will interact regularly with a range of senior colleagues across Business Banking, BUK and the Corporate Bank, including attendance at senior committees where they will be expected to provide an effective voice on the needs of Business Banking clients
- Leading a team based across the UK ensuring everyone understands what is expected of them and how they are performing, have the appropriate resources, skills and knowledge to be effective, efficient and compliant and, where appropriate, are provided with the information and support needed to develop their careers in Barclays
- Maintain strong external and internal knowledge to be at the forefront of what our customers need and changes within the external market and deploy this to new strategic thinking
- Influence and negotiate with a range of internal parties regarding core products, identifying and leveraging opportunities for alignment across BUK and Barclays more broadly

What we’re looking for
- Product management: Has a proven track record of managing all stages of the product lifecycle, ideally within financial services. Have a strong working knowledge of banking product P&Ls, and the key drivers of profitability and risk within these.
- Communication: Able to effectively communicate in a way that gets the maximum positive reaction from their audience. Experienced member of leadership teams and forums and putting these skills into practise in this context.
- Commercial mindset: Highly numerate with strong critical thinking skills and committed to achieving commercial objectives in the right way. Sees themselves as accountable for performance and actively leads others to deliver performance.
