The Pictures Team is responsible for all of Channel 4’s imaging needs. It forms part of the Marketing department, responsible for the promotion of Channel 4 and its programming.
- The team works very closely with a number of other departments including All 4, in the supply of imagery to showcase Channel 4 on platform, and Press & Publicity to whom the team supplies images to support in the publicising of Channel 4’s programmes in earned press and media coverage.
- The team supports these areas, and many more, by working with commissioners, producers, talent and the country’s best photographers to develop concepts for photo shoots on location and in a studio. The team is then responsible for organising, producing, editing and distributing imagery from these shoots, as well as liaising with production companies and studios to acquire supplementary programme imagery.**JOB PURPOSE**

The Pictures team is looking for a creative individual to commission and manipulate photography and deliver images of a high standard for all of Channel 4’s needs, both internally and externally.**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Liaising with Commissioning Editors, All 4, the Press team, and other senior stakeholders in the commissioning and research of photography and ensuring it is suitable for use across all platforms and uses
- Establishing and communicating clear concept briefs to photographers, creatives and other freelance contributors
- Adhering to Channel 4/departmental processes around health & safety on shoots, copyright, licensing and contract management, ensuring all relevant paperwork and controls are in place
- Ensuring photography spend is within budgeted amounts allocated by genre
- Strategic overview of the various image needs of the business and the changing media landscape
- Editing images for distribution across streaming platforms and different environments and media
- Loading and captioning all images into our digital asset management system
- Populating the Images section of the C4 press site
- Dealing with requests for pictures - internally from All 4, the Press team, Marketing, Corporate and other internal departments; externally from both third-party platforms and traditional press
- Photoshop & design work

**ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS**

**Technical & Professional Skills**
- Experience in commissioning photography, including studio shoots with a creative approach
- Imaginative approach to picture publicity campaigns, including social media angles
- Understanding of, and adherence to, the Channel 4 photography licensing agreement and usage terms
- Proficiency in Photoshop and art working
- Basic technical knowledge of photography
- Knowledge of digital asset management systems
- An understanding of the growing importance of images and multi-variant testing to drive online viewing

**Relationship Management**
- Ability to communicate and manage talent, agents, production, press and senior stakeholders confidently and diplomatically
- Experience of commissioning and delivering images for different stakeholders with sometimes conflicting needs

**Complexity/Problem Solving**
- Initiative - able to ‘think on feet’
- Good organisation skills
- Basic knowledge of budgets

**Business Impact/Strategic Perspective**
- Understanding of Channel 4’s brand values
- Understanding of Channel 4’s Future4 strategy
