Let us tell you a little bit about the role

It is managed centrally within the Portfolio Management Office (PMO), in the Business Operations team, which is a cross-cutting function that supports DDaT. You will work with multiple teams across a number of complex, fast-moving and innovative projects. You will support the smooth running of projects by acting as a central point of contact with the DDaT PMO. The successful applicant will work closely with the leadership team including overseeing governance of projects.

This role is available in seven UK locations and can only be worked from within the UK, not overseas. Most DBT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in the office on average. Changes to these working arrangements are available in certain circumstances but must be agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role. Travel to your primary office location will not be paid for by DBT, but costs for travel to an office which is not your main location will be covered.

**Responsibilities**

You will be responsible for a wide range of activities including:

- Planning and scheduling - working with DDaT teams to implement and maintain effective planning and scheduling of their activities.
- Monitoring and reporting
- Establishing and maintaining project controls, keeping the PMO lead and senior management aware of the status of projects. Preparing project performance reports, presenting statistics and researching new information.
- Process adherence - Ensuring organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Managing and monitoring compliance with Departmental/wider government policies and processes e.g. Business Planning, spend control compliance
- Stakeholder engagement - Managing professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Financial control - Monitoring project spend and contributing to budget bids and forecasts
- Risks, Issues and dependency management - Managing potential risks, issues, dependencies and mitigations with risk managers, escalating as appropriate.
- Knowledge & information management - ensuring compliance with knowledge and information management policies processes

**Essential Skills and Experience**

You will need to have demonstrable skills and experience of:

- You will have successfully worked in a portfolio management office or in a small to medium complexity project environment.
- You have experience of planning and governance including risk, issue and dependency management
- You have an awareness of different project management frameworks and methodologies
- You can effectively identify, map and engage with stakeholders.
- Have a genuine passion for project delivery.

**Desirable Skills and Experience**
- A Project Management qualification at Foundation level including PRINCE 2 or APM Project Fundamentals.
