As the Head of Bids and Proposals, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our UK bids and proposals. Your primary focus will be on coordinating and managing the entire bid preparation process, ensuring compliance with company operating procedures and delivering high-quality submissions to optimise win rates.

**Key Responsibilities as the Head of Bids and Proposals**:
1. Manage end-to-end bid preparation process, from customer requirement receipt to contract award.

2. Formulate winning bid strategies in collaboration with the Sales team, aligning with organisational objectives.

3. Lead the bid capture team, ensuring a compelling, competitive, and compliant proposal.

4. Proactively assess workload demands, prioritise tasks, and allocate resources effectively.

5. Monitor and manage budget and expenditure related to bids and proposals.

6. Provide comprehensive reporting to support UK Business Order Intake forecasting and Capacity Planning.

7. Lead contract negotiations to achieve sales targets in line with business objectives.

8. Develop and mentor the Bids and Proposals team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

9. Coordinate inputs from external partners, critically analysing proposals for completeness.

10. Ensure timely delivery of requirements in accordance with customer deadlines.

**Qualifications and Skills as the Head of Bids and Proposals**:
1. Degree-level qualification or equivalent, with demonstrated bid management knowledge (e.g., Shipley process).

2. Proven track record in winning business through competitive processes, with strong commercial, project, and risk management skills.

3. Proven interpersonal and written communication skills, capable of leading and collaborating in a global, cross-functional team.

4. Ability to assess complex requirements and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

5. Strong leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, team management, and team building skills.

6. Interpersonal skills to develop close business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, senior management, and government/military customers.

7. Planning, organising, and leadership skills, coupled with excellent time management to achieve milestones.

8. Attention to detail to deliver high-quality proposals.

9. Experience as a manager of people with the ability to motivate and develop personnel.

10. Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.

Travelling for short periods (at short notice) may be required on a regular basis, both inside/outside of the UK.
