Aberdeen, United Kingdom The Archie Foundation Full time

**Job Title**:Archie Support Coordinator

**Reports To**: Director of Business Services

**Overview**

As the Archie Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting the Director of Business Services by playing a vital role in **beneficiary engagement **for all areas of the **charity**. There are two key parts to this role:
**1. Grant Funding Applications**

Awareness of available funding will be necessary, therefore close working partnerships with both internal and external colleagues will be key.

**2. The Archie Family Centre (RACH)**

**The post holder will coordinate residential provision for parents/carers **of children receiving treatment at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH). The Archie Family Centre at RACH caters for all families within or transferred to the NHS Grampian region, including Orkney and Shetland Islands. Maintaining the occupancy register and allocation of rooms within the Archie Family Centre will be crucial in the smooth running of this facility and evidencing a key part of the value Archie delivers in the region.

In addition, the post holder will manage restocking of the Parents’ Suite (Media Lounge) and other public areas, in collaboration with NHS domestic services and volunteers, to ensure that the accommodation is appropriately cared for and maintained to the highest level. The post holder will manage stock/supplies from a limited budget by exercising sound commercial and economic practices and encouraging parents/carers to do likewise.

This role entails physical work, including stripping beds when required, and the post holder would require moving and handling skills which will include heavier items (i.e. cases of soft drink cans).

The post holder will be adaptable and flexible to accommodate the varying situations he/she will be presented with, by using good judgement in allocating rooms or having to move parents within the Archie Family Centre to meet changes in demand for accommodation. This role is key within a small team which requires flexibility and a hands-on approach to ensure that the charity’s beneficiaries experience the support they need in a considered, empathetic, courteous and timely manner. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with parents/carers, members of the multi-disciplinary team, support services and senior staff in a professional manner. At times the post holder may be involved in dealing with distressed, angry or anxious parents/carers.

**Job Purpose**
- Supervision and coordination of the Archie Family Centre within RACH. This facility includes a 19 room unit with home facilities (cooking and laundry). The management of these facilities will be in accordance with recognised local and national health and safety legislation which is advised via the RACH Clinical Nurse Manager and Ward Staff.
- Maintenance and supervision of the separate Parents Media Lounge and its IT facilities and snack machines. These facilities are open to all parents/carers/visitors who have children in the hospital.
- Recruit, select and induct new volunteers, providing support and acting as the key contact for volunteers in the family centre.
