We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative individual to join our team to provide the best possible service to support tackling homelessness in Croydon. The Enablement Officer is a key role in our team and is responsible for working with residents to prevent homelessness and supporting them with finding sustainable long-term solutions such as finding employment, moving home, budgeting and debt management.
**About the role**:
Early engagement with the resident to fully explore the issues or challenges they face and the underlying reasons which could include loss of employment, loss of tenancy, threat of loss of tenancy, increase in rent, change in income, benefit cap.
Identifying barriers for residents such as training opportunities to seek employment, sourcing childcare, managing their budget. Finding solutions to these problems and working with the customer to overcome these obstacles.
Interviewing residents, giving advice and signposting, acting as a representative to ensure they have access to services and benefits that they are entitled to
**About you**
- Ability to understand and interpret complex regulations and legislation
- Welfare benefits/reform work experience. This experience must include a substantial element of developing solutions for customers who are impacted by welfare reform changes.
- Experience of contributing to the delivery of services which actively improve residents lives and involve changing behaviours.
- Awareness of the issues faced by poverty and ill health.
