**About us**
We are part of an expanding Employability Team sitting within the Learning & Skills Directorate of the Vale of Glamorgan Council. The Advice Pod Coordinator is a new and exciting UK Government funded development, and the role will focus on taking the employability support agenda forward. Sitting as part of the employability team you will work closely with the other coordinators to ensure that the wider employability agendas are being effectively delivered as one service and linked closely with the Welsh Governments Employability and Skills Plans.

This new initiative will involve working with various Council departments and other partners to set up a shop front, which complements existing services and is open to the public, offering a raft of advice support services. Support services could involve help with financial support or digital form filling to build confidence, redirecting to other employability or Adult Community Learning provision. Working with partners to deliver within the POD advice on benefits, housing, debt and mental health organisations. Connecting local people with opportunities for skills, training, jobs and careers.

**About the role**
Pay Details: Grade 8, SP26 - 30, £32,909 - £36,298

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week

Main Place of Work: The advice Pod, (planned for Barry)

Temporary Reason: 31st March 2025 (following a successful probationary period).

**Description**:
To deliver, coordinate and monitor the work of a busy Information POD, providing high quality advice and information services to customers. Helping take forward the Shared Prosperity Programme agenda. Developing new services, innovative and support services and reporting progress on performance and managing funding claims.

**About you**
You will need:

- Proven track record with extensive experience in an employability or advice related field.
- Previous experience of developing a project/programme and /or a shop front.
- A flexible and highly motivated individual with a proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to lead and support a team of advisors.
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to work with and build relationships with a wide range of partners.
- Liaise with local a wide array of other organisations including UK Government, CAB, Welsh Government, DWP/DWP, Working Wales/Careers Wales, Training Providers and other Mental Health Support providers etc.
- Experience of working with customers who are experiencing poverty and/or barriers to employment.
- Ability to understand monitoring and evaluation methods, able to set up systems, to analyse data and present this in reports in easy to understand formats.
- You will help recruit and build a team of advisors who will work with customers and seek to expand the work via outreach to other areas and homes within the Vale of Glamorgan.
