**The MET**

The service provides policing to the 32 London Boroughs as well as a number of other local, national and international functions such as counter terrorism and organised crime prevention. As the country’s largest police service, the service is recognised internationally as a leader in fighting crime and many other policing organisations look to the MPS for best practice and guidance.

We are looking to recruit students for a 52 week student placement with the Metropolitan Police Service. All roles will give students valuable insight and experience of working for one of the largest public organisations in the UK and the largest single employer in London. The role is a substantive post and we seek to provide valuable practical experience wherever our students work.

**Background**

Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity. As the threat continues to evolve, then so must we. That means transformation is hugely important and requires skilled experts to deliver vital change projects and programmes efficiently.

Joining the Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ), you’ll be part of our Change Pillar, specifically the Business Change team. You’ll support the CTP Network by helping the business to understand, prepare, adopt and embed highly complex change. By strategically engaging with our people and working in partnership with them on the transformational journey, you will ensure that any disruption to operations are minimised and the benefits of our projects and programmes are maximized. It’s all about implementing new behaviours and ways of working so that the business remains equipped to fight terrorism.

Your work will involve extensive collaboration, engaging with stakeholders and enablers at a national level. Highly organised and efficient with excellent communication skills, you’ll bring your previous experience to the role in order to connect with people across the team and beyond.

**The Role**

The Business Change Assistant will support one of the Business Change Managers (BCM) and/or Business Change Leads (BCL) in the successful management and implementation of one or more national change projects/programmes being delivered across the CTP Network. The changes undertaken vary but cover a broad spectrum including changes to policy and processes, estates moves / refurbishments, changes to IT including new systems, organisational restructures, people moves and cultural change.

This will include:

- Engaging with key interested parties, including specialist experts in their field and senior management, to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Assisting with the development and review of project and programme communications, working in partnership with the Change Communications team
- The day to day maintenance of specific business change products (Change Impact Assessments, Readiness Assessments etc) as directed by the BCM/BCL.
- Supporting the Business Change Leads with the day to day running of the Regional Change Network, in order to enhance national collaboration and co-ordination of change, including setting up meetings and tracking actions.
- Assisting the Business Change Team in the day-to-day development and maintenance of the guidance, templates and training to ensure the CTP approach to business change is understood, planned, communicated, implemented and managed in a consistent and effective manner.
- Providing administrative support to the Business Change team
- Maintaining local project management products, according to relevant Project/Programme Management standards, including plans, risk register and action logs.
- Supporting the BCM with the identification, understanding, measurement, and tracking of project benefits.

We are looking to recruit a university placement student currently pursuing a degree in Business Studies, Business Management, Operational Research or similar.
