Seasonal Caterer

Outline of the post

Oadby Wyggestonian Rugby Football Club is looking to recruit a part time caterer to prepare meals for our Saturday and Sunday rugby activities. The role is seasonal to coincide with the rugby season from late August to early May and will require attendance on most weekends during that period on Saturday afternoons, Sunday mornings and some Sunday afternoons. Actual hours each weekend will depend on home fixture requirements which will be advised weekly in advance.

The post will also involve ordering / collection of catering supplies outside of weekend hours and the banking of cash receipts.

Duties include

Ordering and collection [or taking delivery] of supplies for the weekend ahead in liaison with club house manager and others who are undertaking purchasing activities

Opening up the clubhouse and kitchen on a Saturday lunchtime to cater for lunchtimes with meals starting at either 1315 (Nov - Feb) or 1400 (Sept, Oct, March, April). Lunchtime meals will be needed circa 40% of weekends during the season from September to April.

Opening up the clubhouse and kitchen on a Saturday afternoon to cater for evening meals with meals starting at either 1700 (Nov - Feb) or 1745 (Sept, Oct, March, April). Evening meals will be required on circa 90% of all weekends during the season.

Opening up the clubhouse and kitchen on a Sunday morning to cater for junior teams and supporters with food orders starting at 0900 most weekends and finishing earliest at 1230. Sunday morning catering will be needed on all weekends during the season (September to April) apart from over the Christmas period, Easter period or when games are cancelled due to bad weather.

Opening up the clubhouse and kitchen on a Sunday afternoon to cater for afternoon meals starting at either 1700 (Nov - Feb) or 1745 (Sept, Oct, March, April). Sunday evening meals will be required on circa 35% of all weekends during the season.

Opening up the clubhouse and kitchen at other ad-hoc times by agreement for meals outside of usual catering requirements.

Working to agreed meal quantities and budgets

Working with and coaching player and parent volunteers in the kitchen

Ordering and collection of catering supplies and food as required

Recording cash payments as directed

Paying in cash as directed

Submitting expenses for purchases as directed

Submitting daily timesheets

Cleaning the kitchen after each use and ensuring all equipment is returned to its correct storage point

Moving and returning any ancillary equipment to and from stores where this encumbers the catering environment.

Locking up club facilities where you are the last to leave the premises

Other related duties as may be required

NOTES

Full training will be given on kitchen equipment, food orders and help with meal menus.

Finance procedures will be in place for cash handling.

You will be helped by volunteers at busy and peak times.

Wages are only paid for hours worked. Where fixtures are cancelled at short notice working hours may be correspondingly reduced from time to time.

The £13.00 per hour rate is made up of an £11.56 base rate plus a 12.5% holiday allowance.

You will be employed by Oadby Wyggestonian Rugby Football Club Ltd and your terms and conditions of employment will be detailed elsewhere.

You will be paid monthly in arrears before the end of the month by BACS transfer

The post is initially fixed term for one season only until May 2024 and may be renewed by agreement and as operational requirements dictate.

There are no catering requirements on Christmas or Easter bank holidays.

The successful applicant is expected to be available for most weekends as required but leave may be granted in exceptional circumstances or by advance agreement where volunteer cover can be arranged in advance.

Notice period 1 month by either employer or employee.

There is no pension entitlement with this post

Qualifications Required

There are no specific qualifications required but prior experience in catering or the volunteer catering environment would be advantageous. The applicant will either need to hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety certificate or take the course (at the Club’s cost) prior to commencement.
