Position: X2 Digital Inclusion Outreach Officers (Part-Time)

Hours: 14 hours per week

**Salary**: 11,140

**Contract type**: 18 months - _with the possibility of extension_

**Location(s)**: Greenford Community Centre, and local libraries within Ealing Borough and or partner organisations premises.

**Job Context**

Age UK Ealing’s mission is to promote the wellbeing of all older people in Ealing and empower them to achieve full quality of life. We provide a range of support services for older people in the London Borough of Ealing including Information and Advice Service, Day Centre, and Befriending. We also run Greenford Community Centre, where our office and services are based alongside a range of other community activities.

Digital literacy is a top priority as it can help reduce loneliness, improve health and wellbeing, and provide opportunities for older people. In today's digital-focused society, it is important for everyone to have the skills to perform tasks such as accessing GPs and NHS online services, shopping, paying bills, reporting housing repairs, staying in touch with friends and loved ones etc. To address these issues, the Digital Inclusion Service offers personalised support to help older people learn the digital skills they believe will be most beneficial to them.

**Purpose of the role**

Reporting to the Digital Inclusion Project Manager, the Digital Inclusion Outreach Officer will support the Digital Inclusion Project Manager in the day-to-day delivery of the Digital Inclusion Service.
- To provide personalised support to older people through the provision of one-to-one support and group sessions at various locations.
- To facilitate outreach visits to promote referrals to the service and enable participation of service users who are unwilling or unable to attend volunteer-led sessions at locations.

**Main Duties and responsibilities**:
1. Deliver one-to-one support and group sessions with older people to develop their digital skills and confidence. One-to-one support sessions may be regular and ongoing depending on the needs of the individual.

2. To work with the Digital Inclusion Project Manager to coordinate sessions, including booking and delivering sessions.

3. Transport necessary equipment to and from Greenford Community Centre to select locations across the borough.

4. To identify clients engaging with a service in need of digital skills support.

5. To use digital inclusion to help reduce loneliness and isolation amongst older people across the borough.

6. Identify new service users who could benefit from the Age UK Ealing digital inclusion project through the internal and external referral routes.

7. To work with the project manager to support the Volunteer Digital Champions.

8. Build effective and productive relationships internally and externally.

9. Report periodically on Key Performance Indicators including outputs and outcomes and key learning points.

10. To market and promote the Digital Champion/Inclusion Service in the community, carrying out activities in the community to reach older people directly, inform them about the service, and discuss the benefits of getting online.

11. To work alongside Volunteer Digital Champions to provide direct support and guidance to older people to get online, in one-to-one and group settings, in community settings or in people’s homes.

12. To work with older people to understand their individual goals and needs when it comes to being online and accessing technology, to enable a person-centred and learner-led approach.

13. To maintain and manage record-keeping related to older people's engagement with the service and to ensure data is collected accurately and in line with organisational policies and GDPR. To provide feedback to the Digital Inclusion Project Manager about the involvement of volunteers and older people with the service to inform service improvement.

14. To support the Digital Inclusion Project Manager with managing Volunteer Digital Champions, including planning skills sessions with older people, general project administration, and supporting relationship building with volunteers.

15. Undertake other duties of a similar professional nature and commensurate with the role.
