**RESPONSIBLE TO**:Youth Leader in Charge and REACT Management Committee
- **MAIN DUTIES**_

1. Assist the youth leader in charge as directed.

2. Implement and evaluate youth project services as directed.

3. Focus on the personal and social development of disadvantaged children and

young people using various diverse programme and activity methods.

4. Facilitate youth participation and leadership development through the youth

Committee.

5. Promote the youth project and all its programmes and activities.

6. Assist with the recruitment and referrals of young people to the project.

7. Facilitate programmes and workshops with participants on relevant issues.

8. Respond to the specific needs of disadvantaged children and young people

as they arise.

9. Assist with record keeping and the monitoring and evaluation of the project

on regular basis

10. Ensure the implementation and monitoring of Health and Safety, safe

guarding, risk assessment, incident and accidents reporting systems.

11. Submit and discuss with line manager quarterly and annual progress reports

which reflect the objectives of the project.

GENERAL DUTIES
- **To work as an active and integral part of the REACT team ** To work with other staff on issues relating to REACT when appropriate to the effective delivery of the organisation’s strategic plan
- **To undertake such other duties as shall be required from time to time.**

**REACT (Reconciliation, Education and Community Training)**
PERSON SPECIFICATION

**JOB TITLE**: Youth Support Worker - 16 hours per week.

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**

Applicants must:
Have an OCN level 2 qualification in youth work or equivalent with a minimum of two years experience working with children and young people in a variety of youth work settings.

Demonstrate knowledge of issues affecting children and young people.

Have experience of youth work with disadvantaged young people.

Have experience of programme delivery.

Have excellent inter-personal and group working skills.

Have highly effective and competent communication skills.

Have excellent organisational skills.

Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative.

Be available to work evenings and weekends.

Be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

Have a level 3 OCN qualification in youth work.

Have three years experience of working with children and young people in a variety of youth work settings.

Have competent IT skills (WP, Spreadsheets, Internet).

Have experience of residential activities.

Job Title: Youth Support Worker - Part Time

**Salary**: £10.33 per hour

Hours of employment: 16 hours per week which includes evening and weekend work as required.

Holidays: 28 days annual leave plus bank/public holidays, pro rata

Duration: This is a 9 month fixed term post, with possible extension

Location: Based in the REACT office, Armagh

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 months
