**Information for the role of Senior Porter**

An excellent opportunity to join a prestigious organisation in a varied and fulfilling new role within the Porters Lodge. You will be supporting the Head Porter with management of the Porters Lodge and College Porter team including Line management responsibility for the duty porters’ which is currently a team of 10 permanent staff. You will oversee the porters shift rosters to cover appropriate shifts as determined by the Head Porter, planning ahead to the flow of the academic year, conferences and other events where shifts may require cover. Completing and overseeing day to day duties within the Porters Lodge and ensuring the security of College grounds, assisting with Health and Safety and building checks to ensure compliance

To be considered for this interesting role, you will need to bring:

- Experience of dealing with members of the public in a calm, assured and friendly manner
- A good level of computer literacy including experience of MS Outlook and Excel
- An ability to respond to situations with spontaneity, tact and diplomacy
- A Flexible approach to work and tasks, including willingness to work overtime when needed

You will need to be willing to undertake safety-related qualifications including First Aider.**About Downing College**

**Details of the role**

Hours will be worked five out of seven days, shifts will be scheduled based on business need in the college calendar on a rota basis, to include weekend working and morning, mid, late and night shifts. The annual salary is £33,509 per annum for 40 hours per week (step 40 on the College Salary Scale). In addition to the salary, we offer an attractive benefits package including:
