**Job title**: Farm Support Worker.

**Location**: Larchfield Community, Stokesley Road, Hemlington, Middlesbrough, TS8 9DY.

**Purpose**: To work as part of the farm team, carrying out day-to-day tasks and activities, including working with sheep and cattle. To support the individuals who access our day opportunities to fulfil their potential for independence, choice, inclusion and empowerment. To ensure the People We Support are guided productively and supported in a meaningful and safe manner to achieve agreed goals during day activities on the farm.

**Salary**: £22,327.50 per year (pro rata).

**Hours**: 37.5 hours per week. 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday plus some occasional weekend rota work.

**Who are we looking for?**
- You will have a Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification, or a willingness to work towards. This is essential. A Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification is desirable.
- You will have previous experience working within a farming environment, including working with livestock. This is essential.
- Previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities is desirable.
- You must be able to carry out physically demanding work. This is essential.
- A working knowledge of health and safety is essential.
- A reasonable general education, specifically in numeracy and literacy, is essential.

**What are the main responsibilities of this role?**
- To work with organic practices on the farm in accordance with organic standards.
- To carry out delegated day to day farming tasks/activities on the farm, land and gardens.
- Ensure that all People We Support are supported according to their risk assessments and support plans to participate in and meaningfully contribute to the daily farming tasks and have the opportunity to experience variety and progression.
- Engage the People We Support and understand the need for promoting dignity, independence, choice and fulfilment and treating everyone with respect.
- To contribute to the health and wellbeing of the animals on the farm.
- To check the animals on a daily basis and recognise illnesses and welfare issues on the farm and take the appropriate action where necessary, i.e. inform your line manager or treat the condition if applicable.
- To provide animal husbandry in line with British standards. This may include calving, lambing, trimming feet, tagging sheep, and dealing with pests and diseases.
- Ensure you work within the appropriate policies, procedures, practices, and controls (identifying and putting in place any that are necessary for the farm) and that appropriate recording and reporting arrangements are used to support and evidence the meeting of CVT’s contractual and regulatory requirements, having particular regard to health and safety requirements.
- Keep all appropriate records and information in an orderly manner and on a timely basis.
- To contribute to the strategic discussions, as part of the monthly farm workshop meeting.
