These are changing times in the way in which National Highways develops its Major Projects to make sure that they address the problems of today but are compatible with the world of tomorrow. As the Major Projects directorate grows, National Highways arelooking to increase the Project Management talent throughout the four programmes within, and this position is your opportunity to shape precisely how those projects are developed.

We currently have an exciting opportunity with the Regional Investment Programme (RIP) working in the South-East Region based in Guildford.

RIP is one of four programmes within the National Highways Major Projects Directorate. Major Projects is responsible for the delivery of nearly 70 projects with a total value of more than £14 billion, and some of the most exciting and challenging projectsin the country. National Highway’s goal is to change the industry: to make roads and their construction and maintenance safer; to be more responsive to the needs of our customers, particularly about biodiversity and carbon; and to exploit the digital agendaand drive the productivity agenda to improve delivery.

What you’ll be leading on

- Contribute to the creation of high-quality baseline management products, produce timely and accurate reports, and create and maintain specified records.
- Carry out feasibility, design, and assessment work for proposed projects, to inform the development of business cases and investment proposals.
- Plan and define project steps or schedules, consistent with defined review milestones and priorities, to contribute to the design of the overall project plan.
- Contribute to the identification, implementation, and monitoring of day-to-day support for the project activities including contract compliance, risk management, Health & Safety, financial management and reporting, document control, assurance, and governance.
To be successful you’ll need to have:

- Experience working in a project office environment
- Knowledge and/or experience in undertaking project administration tasks, including reporting, finance, risk management & planning/programming.
- Evidence of working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working within a governance framework to help deliver results
- Excellent communication skills with a high level of integrity & Ownership
