We are looking for a Community and Projects Officer for a fixed period of **12 months** to support us in our mission to transform the physics landscape for the UK and Ireland, and ensure a thriving physics ecosystem that contributes to innovation, discovery, research, growth and debate in the UK, Ireland and beyond. We are very proud of our innovative strategy and you can watch this film for more information about our work. This is an incredibly exciting time to work at the IOP as we build on our successful influencing of UK government priorities on quantum strategy through our impact projects. The postholder will also have a critical role in supporting and galvanising the physics-powered business community via the relaunch of our business Accelerator.

**What will I be doing?**
- Foster a professional and welcoming environment that facilitates high satisfaction with members and community
- Manage our Business Awards, business Accelerator and business programme, and bring in physics demonstrators to IOP offices
- Play a critical role in our physics programme that will annually deliver up to 4 strategic impact projects to shape the physics debate and affect positive change.

**Projects you work on may include**:

- Revamp our Accelerator and provide dedicated support for physics-powered businesses
- Manage our Business Awards and bring businesses into the fold for the benefit of physics and society
- Support our work to shape the physics debate in science and innovation

**Who will I work with?**
- Members, including Council and Committees
- Business leaders
- Staff from the Science and Innovation team, and across the IOP and IOPP

**_ Essential Criteria_**
- Interpersonal skills - ability to positively communicate with others; the confidence to listen and understand_,_
- Robust influencing and engagement skills - ability to bring people along with you diplomatically
- Organisational skills - ability to work with minimum supervision, prioritise workload, and handle multiple tasks
- Communication skills - ability to express information clearly and effectively in written and oral form

**_Nice to have_**
- Experience of a membership organisation
- Understanding of physics/a physics undergraduate degree or equivalent
