We're seeking a Project Officer to join our team at the African Community School (**ACS**). This crucial role supports the Programme Manager with administrative and data management systems, ensuring seamless communication between parents, students and teachers.
**Working Relationships**
- **Reports To**: Programme Manager
- **Works Closely With**:Trustees, Membership Secretary, Bookkeeper, Sessional Tutors
- **Key External Contacts**: Local community, schools, children's centres, libraries, youth centres, parents/carers, voluntary organisations, and other relevant agencies
**Contract & Benefits**
- **Term**: 1-year fixed term (includes a 3-month probationary period) with potential for extension
- **Hours**:28 hours per week, spread over 4 days
- **Pension**:ACS matches contributions at 5% of pensionable earnings
- **Holiday**:20 days annually, including bank holidays on working days. Holidays align with school schedules.
**ABOUT ACS**:African Community School works with the most vulnerable families in Hackney to support academic achievement, enable employability skills and provide holistic family support. We deliver a Saturday learning hub for young people aged 5-17 years that boosts learning, personal skills, and cultural knowledge, supporting Black and Global Majority children at risk of exclusion, excluded from school, or in home education. We also provide wrap-around cultural activities, summer holiday clubs, mentoring for 5 to 17 years old, family learning, creative family projects, and parenting skills and non-violent resistance courses for parents. **What You'll Do**
As Project Officer, you'll play a vital role in supporting our mission. You'll:
- Collaborate with the Programme Manager on programme management, evaluation and reporting.
- Design project plans, processes and recruit/train volunteers.
- Build new and existing partnerships, oversee student enrolment and maintain accurate records.
- Manage admissions for Saturday school, holiday programmes and adult and community classes and courses, ensuring timely organisation to maximise enrolment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create promotional materials, manage website/social media.
- Support ACS's strategic goals, using evidence-based practices.
- Track project impact, monitor project-related finances, champion and uphold safeguarding and actively promote equality
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Champion the ACS mission with a flexible, positive attitude.
**Project Monitoring & Evaluation**
- Ensure projects meet targets and produce data-driven reports.
- Support organisations with training and capacity-building.
- Maintain activity records on the ACS database.
**Administration**
- Provide clerical support and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Maintain organised filing, records, and teaching materials.
- Manage social media platforms.
**Professional Requirements**
- Build relationships with staff, students, parents, and stakeholders.
- Adhere to ACS policies and prioritise safeguarding.
- Participate in professional development.
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (relevant field preferred). Examples might include education, social work, etc.).
- Experience:
- Project management, including documentation.
- Public, voluntary, or education sector work.
- Website management and social media.
- Office environments and record-keeping.
**Skills**:
- Teamwork, adaptability, strong communication, and MS Office expertise.
- Ability to work under pressure and remain professional.
