An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join a well-established, innovative and supportive team in the London Borough of Havering. This a fixed-term, full-time job to cover maternity leave within a team where there are a wide range of personal and professional opportunities. This position is also suitable for therapists returning to practice.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to be a part of our team. This is a great position for an experienced therapist to join a team of passionate and enthusiastic professionals that support children and their families with their speech, language and communication needs.

You will independently manage a caseload of clients with identified or suspected social communication difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Disorders. This will include diagnostic work and providing diagnostic/ assessment feedback. You will also support our preschool caseload as required. You will provide high quality speech and language therapy in close conjunction with families and other professionals working with the same client group such as Paediatrician's.

Based in Romford with established transport links from London, Essex and Kent-including the new Elizabeth Line, you will work as part of integrated children's services alongside colleagues in Paediatrics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and CAMHS.

This role would be suitable for a therapist looking to work as part of a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking team.

To work autonomously as a highly specialist SLT within the community team, providing an effective service in Havering for children who have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder or who are manifesting Social Communication Difficulties in a range of settings and environments. This includes clients with/without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

To provide an advanced standard of assessment, clinical diagnosis, treatment and management of communication difficulties in children.

To evaluate outcomes of assessments and to provide advice and feedback to parents and other professionals as appropriate.

Devise and deliver appropriate highly specialist intervention/care plans/enhanced models of SLT for clients with complex communication needs and provide suitable and timely support.

Work as part of the integrated therapies team ensuring the delivery of joined up care plans.

To provide specialist training for other professionals within the area of communication development and difficulties.

To assist in the development of skills relating to this area to colleagues including SLTs, SLTAs, speech & language therapy students, teaching assistants, SENCos and early years’ staff.

To work collaboratively with family/carers and all agencies involved with the child’s care.

To support the leadership of the children’s speech and language service in Havering.

The children's SLT team in Havering is a supportive, innovative and fun place to work. We offer a range of clinical sessions, MDT working and lots of CPD opportunities. Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).

The post holder will be expected to support their team, department and organisation to achieve the Trust’s Values in their day to day work.

You will achieve this by working autonomously as a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Integrated Children’s Services team in various settings. The post holder will independently manage a caseload of clients with moderate/complex/profound communication needs - this will mainly comprise children having a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder or who are manifesting significant Social Communication Difficulties.

You will also support the pre-school service and work closely with the Pre-school pathway lead.
