A wonderful opportunity has arisen within CWPT for people with lived experience of mental health struggles to join our lived experience workforce as a band 4 Peer Associate Practitioner in the DBT service.

You will be supporting people in the DBT service as part of the new ‘Personality and Complex Trauma’ pathway. You will be a positive role model helping to inspire, motivate, guide and support our people to engage with services and work on their recovery. Using your lived experience, you will offer emotional and practical support, helping people move to a positive, meaningful and fulfilled future and take a lead in group facilitation.

The ideal person will assist multidisciplinary teams providing support to members of the community with Personality and Complex trauma. This is an opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment as you work alongside experienced staff and receive regular supervision within the service. You will be in a position to develop the role and be a part of a service undergoing exciting organizational change.

Applicants must have lived experience ofPersonality and complex traumaand will have ideally received support within secondary care mental health services/DBT service. Prior participation in the three-day Peer Worker supervisor training provided by ImROC is advantageous as well as formal Peer Worker training and experience. There will be a range of training opportunities available as we are passionate to develop our staff.
- To work as a Peer Assistant Practitioner within community mental health as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
- The role of a Peer lived experience employee has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of mental distress and are able to use their experience to offer empathy and understanding to others, inspiring hope and recovery.
- To provide effective lived experience input into the MDT with minimum supervision.
- To have an individual’s needs at the fore at all times, working to recovery and peer principles to support individuals to work towards their identified goals.
- To be proficient in providing planned care/groups and be able to take appropriate action in achieving planned aims.
- To carry out therapy procedures in accordance with scope of practice and competence.
- By using personal experience, effectiveness and knowledge contribute to the development and delivery of high quality and cost-effective services.
