Job overview
Are you a Hospital Play Specialist seeking a new challenge? There is an exciting opportunity to join our team and support children and their families cared for by the East Midlands Children’s and Young Persons Cancer Service. This post will see you working with children and families, with a diagnosis of cancer or leukaemia, in the Nottinghamshire and South Derbyshire area of the region.
You must be a qualified Hospital Play Specialist (HPS) and may hold the NNEB or CACHE Diploma in Nursery Nursing or BTEC National Diploma in Nursery Nursing/Childhood Studies or equivalent.
You will have the opportunity to work both independently and alongside a large multi - disciplinary team to develop your skills set in this specialist area and continue your professional development.
You will be based at Queens Medical Centre and you will work with the children and their families in their homes. You will need to be able to adapt to different environments and have a flexible schedule whilst booking in visits.

Working unsupervised but under the direction of a registered nurse, the post holder will be required to provide a high standard of specialised play and support to children and young people, under the care of the East Midlands Children’s and Young Persons’ integrated Cancer Service (CYPICS), in their own homes and other community settings as required.
The post holder will be required to work as a member of CYPICS outreach team working closely with the Paediatric Oncology Outreach Nurse Specialist (POONS) team caring for families in Nottinghamshire and South Derbyshire.

Working for our organisation
In partnership with Leicester Royal Infirmary we are a multidisciplinary team who form the Principal Treatment Centre for the East Midlands Children and Young Person's Integrated Cancer Service (CYPICS). Working with other hospitals in the region we provide hub and spoke care for children and young people with cancer, from birth to 18 years.
The East Midlands Children’s and Young Persons’ Integrated Cancer service takes children and young people from 0 - 18 years with a diagnosis of cancer and leukaemia from across the region. Nottingham also hosts the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre.
Nottingham Children’s Hospital is set within the vibrant city of Nottingham known for its many historical sites. The Children’s Hospital is housed within the Queen’s Medical Centre campus and has 116 inpatient beds across 8 inpatient wards covering all specialities.
