We are looking to recruit to a part-time Band 4 Psychological Play and Parenting Specialist. The is 30 hours per week and will support our North Stoke CAMHS Team based in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.

The post holder would be based within our multi-disciplinary team and work with our community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

We offer excellent clinical supervision and support. There are a wide range of CPD opportunities available.

To support the psychologists in their work with families through undertaking own individual case load, and to co-work as appropriate with psychological staff and other agencies as required.

Works respectfully in partnership with parents/carers to increase their understanding of their child’s developmental and emotional needs, to enhance children’s cognitive, social and emotional development through the medium of play, to help strengthen parent - child relationships and resolve behavioural difficulties. Support parents in their interactions with their child, including the practical choice of developmentally appropriate play materials.

To collaborate and work in partnership with parents/carers in the delivery and development of services.

Responsible, with other qualified staff, for developing, planning, promoting and implementing specialised new and innovative psychological therapeutic interventions through own individual case work and group work to families often through home visiting, group work and community play activities.

Responsible for own case load and undertakes appropriate assessments relating to child development, parenting styles and the psychological wellbeing of children and families.

Works autonomously to develop programmes of care for children and families and provides specialised advice relating to child development and psychological emotional and behavioural issues whilst responding to individual family needs.

Responsible, in collaboration with other qualified staff, for developing, delivering and planning multi-disciplinary activities, for example through group work in a variety of settings, such as baby massage, anti-bullying, confident kids, and relationship play sessions in local schools, Sure Start Centres, health centres and community buildings.

Delivers the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) providing groups and home visits to families co-working with other agencies and professionals as appropriate.

To participate in multi-disciplinary reviews and individual personal planning meetings.
