Assistant Fabric Technologist

We're currently on the hunt for an Assistant Fabric Technologist

Hillwalking, it’s in our DNA - we eat, sleep, live it. We are obsessed, it’s this obsession that drives us daily, to design and create ‘function first’ outdoor clothing, something we have done since we cut and sewed our first jacket back in ‘74.

An outstanding opportunity now exists for a highly creative individual with a passion for the outdoors to join our Manchester based design team in this exciting phase for the brand. As a member of our design team, you will assist in the design and development of Sprayway products, ensuring the styles are commercial, innovative, and of high quality.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Innovating and designing products taking into account development briefs, factory capabilities, target price points and brand.
- Work with suppliers, Head of Design and Product Developers to source new fabrics and develop new trim that are fit for purpose and within the constraints of the design brief.
- Production of detailed CAD illustrations and technical drawings for use in specifications, product marketing and other media.
- Creating technical specs and working on the development of prototypes and samples in collaboration with development team.
- Assisting the garment technologist team to resolve fit issues, grade garments and formulate size and product specifications
- Design research and development: Visiting trade shows, exhibitions and retail accounts.
- Conducting competitor product analysis and meeting active users.
- Trend and market research for emerging trends relevant to core market.
- Working with the development team to approve lab dips for sampling and bulk.
- Develop and follow the critical path for each season’s collection - meeting agreed timelines.
- To develop additional aspects of the product, including brand and care labels as necessary.
- To carry out any other role-related duties, which may be requested from time to time by senior staff.
- To behave as a good ambassador for the Sprayway brand at all times.
- To take responsibility for contributing to own training and development.

**About You**

Passionate about the outdoors

Educated to degree level, preferably in a related field

Has at least 2 years relevant experience designing apparel for sportswear or outdoor brand

Highly organised, able to work under pressure and to deadlines

A team player with a hands-on approach

Keen to learn and know more.

**Location**

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Hyde, Greater Manchester with some home-office working. We operate a hybrid working scheme requiring you to be in the office 3 days per week.

**Salary**: £20,000.00-£23,000.00 per year
