Intensive Family Coordinator
**The job itself**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner who can think outside the box, has a can-do attitude, and an ability to do work creatively to support children and families as part of our Intensive Support Service.
This is a hands-on role, working intensively with a small group of complex families. You will be a key part of the plan in place to make improvements to address key worries such as neglect, poor home conditions, and safety and wellbeing of children, and you will work alongside social workers and other partners to provide a holistic support package.
You will work intensively in family homes and out in the community, visiting families multiple times a week for extended visits, to really get to know them and understand what works for them and their wider support network.
You will provide practical support, modelling skills and walking alongside families to make and sustain changes. Some of these families will have had a lot of service support in the past and as a service we are keen to challenge old ways of working, and to work creatively in ways that work for families.
We love to identify and build on strengths to build resilience and skills, all the while empowering families towards a safe and positive lifestyle - if this sounds like something you are also passionate about, we would love to hear from you.
**The person we are looking for**
You will:
- be educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant area, e.g. health and social care, social work, etc.
- be tenacious, committed to providing excellent support to children and their families and have experience of supporting families
- understand how a relational, strengths-based approach can empower families to build and sustain change, and how important a good support network is in achieving this.
- be committed to delivering a high quality, outcomes-focused support to children and their families
- be able to work flexibly and quickly adapt to fast changing circumstances
- have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to demonstrate a high level of motivation and be able to work independently, within timescales and often balancing conflicting priorities.
Applications from those considering a career in children’s social work are also welcomed as this is a perfect opportunity to gain valuable, frontline experience of working with children, young people and their families in a varied, fast-paced environment alongside the children’s safeguarding team.
**Our offer to you**
The intensive family support offer is a developing service within Children and Young Peoples Support and Safeguarding offer. Within our service we have three locality-based teams, each led by an experienced Team Manager. We are a diverse bunch, with a range of professional backgrounds, including education, family support, social work, mental health and youth work.
We love to share skills and are embarking on a programme of training and development for the service, including recording and writing for children, signs of safety, early years development, language, and direct work tools so this is an ideal time to join our teams.
We are proud to share good practice and try new approaches and are quickly carving out an excellent reputation for our service.
In addition to our service offer to you, as part of ERYC we also offer a range of staff benefits including flexible working, as we know life outside work is just as important.
**Our Model**
‘You can, I can, We can’
We have created a bespoke practice model that reflects and connects our vision, our value base and our behaviour as one East Riding of Yorkshire approach to working with children, young people and their families, which is nurtured and grown from within East Riding of Yorkshire CYPSSS and owned by our workforce.
We remain committed to Signs of Safety as a practice framework, but this will be set within a much wider, values based, model of practice that clearly connects Signs of Safety much more clearly with the East Riding value base, and our overall approach to making and sustaining relationships with children, families and communities.
Without a well embedded model, there is nothing to centre our practice on to ensure that, while the work may be different, all of our teams are grounded in the same values, beliefs, theories and approaches. Having a well developed practice model helps to create a common language for the service and enables everyone to understand how we go about doing the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons for children and their families.
