Intensive Family Coordinator

Beverley, United Kingdom East Riding of Yorkshire Council Full time

**The job itself**:
East Riding of Yorkshire, Children’s Services have recently been rated GOOD by Ofsted in their recent ILACS inspection. Ofsted in their recent report stated ‘since the last inspection in 2019, when the overall effectiveness of services was judged inadequate with children in care and care leavers judged to be good, the leadership team has made significant and sustained changes in all the practice and leadership areas identified for improvement. Through extensive engagement with external partners and scrutineers, the improvements in the service mean that children and young people in East Riding receive a timely and effective response and intervention when they need it. They have ambitious plans and have secured significant investment to develop their services further as part of their continuous improvement journey. Senior leaders lead by example, and this has supported practitioners to embed the relational model of practice with the families they work with.

We are currently recruiting a fixed term Intensive Family Co-ordinator who can think outside the box, have a can-do attitude, and an ability to work creatively to support children and families within our Targeted Intensive Services. This is an exciting opportunity to join our “Making a Change service” which is a multidisciplinary team for young people who are presenting a high level of vulnerability and who are at particular risk of harm from sexual and criminal exploitation and/or going missing.

You, alongside our social care colleagues, will work with our young people and families to build strong relationships and look at intensive intervention based on their individual needs. This could include support with education, employment or safeguarding within the family and community. You will be keen to challenge stereotypical ways of working and find creative ways to support young people and families.

The role will include collaborative working with our partners such as Humberside Police, Youth Justice Service, Anti-Social Behaviour teams and voluntary sectors to safeguard our young people, offer disruption and provide positive opportunities within the community.

No day will be the same, you will be committed and passionate to making a difference to the lives of young people and families within the East Riding. If you’re looking for a fantastic and unique opportunity and could thrive within a multi-disciplinary response to risks around child sexual and child criminal exploitation, then this is the role for you

**Our Model**

‘You can, I can, We can’

We have created a bespoke practice model that reflects and connects our vision, our value base and our behaviour as one East Riding of Yorkshire approach to working with children, young people and their families, which is nurtured and grown from within East Riding of Yorkshire CYPSSS and owned by our workforce.

We remain committed to Signs of Safety as a practice framework, but this will be set within a much wider, values based, model of practice that clearly connects Signs of Safety much more clearly with the East Riding value base, and our overall approach to making and sustaining relationships with children, families and communities.

Without a well embedded model, there is nothing to centre our practice on to ensure that, while the work may be different, all of our teams are grounded in the same values, beliefs, theories and approaches. Having a well-developed practice model helps to create a common language for the service and enables everyone to understand how we go about doing the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons for children and their families.

You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to demonstrate a high level of motivation and can work independently, with skills in working within timescales and with conflicting priorities.

This is not a 9-5 Job and individuals will be required to work flexibly ensuring we deliver support 7 days a week working 1 in 4 weekends. Please see attached rota.

This will be an extremely demanding role, but also equally rewarding, with opportunity for training and development within the role.
