Facilities Porter/receptionist

**Job Overview**:
Sussex Estates and Facilities (SEF) are recruiting for a Facilities Porter/ Receptionist.
You will provide exceptional, high quality customer services to staff, students and visitors, while also supporting with day-to-day facilities services, primarily portering reception duties.
The working hours are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7:30am-4:00pm, with 30 mins Lunch break.
**Main Duties**
To provide Portering and Reception services at the University Of Sussex
- To monitor and distribute tasks as needed to the portering team
- Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office
- Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
- Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable
- Receive, sort and process/ frank all daily mail/deliveries keeping a log of all items received.
- Maintain office security by following safety procedures
- Reporting and relaying emergency maintenance requests and accompanying maintenance staff.
- Removal and repositioning of furniture and equipment.
- Check buildings regularly and report maintenance issues and H&S concerns to the manager.
- Assist in carrying out maintenance and H&S inspections of all areas as well as carrying PPM's
- Creation and dismantling of equipment when necessary and where safe.
- Reception duties as required including post sorting.
- Litter picking at entrances to buildings and gritting walkways in winter months.
- Assisting with fire alarm activations and evacuations where safe and as detailed in local risk assessment.
- To provide initial and immediate support to students who may be unwell or distressed. To refer the students to the appropriate team so they can access relevant support.
- To assist University staff with events such as setting out tables and chairs.
- Driving company vehicles as and when required
- There will be a requirement to work 3 Saturdays per year to cover Open Days and Applicant Visit Day

- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook and Office software especially Excel. PowerPoint would be an advantage
- Full UK Driving Licence
