Working within the historic mansion house at Castle Ward, the role of Service Assistant (known internally as Day Leader) plays a core part in ensuring the house is opened in a safe, friendly and accessible way.

You will support a team of volunteers in delivering excellent customer service to our visitors whilst ensuring Castle Ward's collection is kept safe. Duties will include opening and closing the mansion house, briefing volunteers each morning, ensuring volunteers have breaks, engaging with visitors and responding to queries.

We welcome tens of thousands of visitors to the mansion house each year and endeavour to provide a welcoming experience for those who cross its doors. This role of Service Assistant (Day Leader) ensures this experience is maintained in an accessible, inclusive and safe manner.

The Hours: Flexible hours available which includes weekend shifts; to be discussed at interview

The Salary: £9.60 per hour (This salary will increase in line with minimum wage)

Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2023

Provisional Interview Date: Friday 24th February

What you'll be doing:Visitors are a vital part of what we do. As the Service Assistant it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day. In this role, you’ll be;
- Working alongside a big staff team and volunteers in delivering outstanding customer service across the property
- Working across our welcoming and admitting visitors to the property, providing information and orientation
- Promote events, offers, products and benefits of actively supporting the National Trust
- Support in the delivery of events at times throughout the year
- Support across the property/portfolio when required
