**Job Description: Band 5 - Operating Department Practitioner (Temporary)**:
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a renowned healthcare organization, delivering high-quality care to patients in the Grange Road, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare area of Somerset.

As a Band 5 ODP, you will play a crucial role in assisting the surgical team during operative procedures. Your main responsibilities will include preparing the operating theatre, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available, and providing direct support to the surgeon and anaesthetist throughout the procedure.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Preparing the operating theatre for surgical procedures, including laying out instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Checking and maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of all surgical equipment
- Assisting in the safe positioning and transfer of patients onto the operating table
- Providing immediate assistance to the surgical team during emergencies or unexpected events
- Administering medications as directed by the anaesthetist
- Monitoring patients' vital signs and reporting any changes or abnormalities
- Documenting accurate and detailed records of intraoperative events
- Participating in the debriefing and evaluation of surgical cases
- Ensuring compliance with infection control and health and safety regulations at all times

**Requirements**:
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:

- A valid and current registration as an Operating Department Practitioner with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Proven experience working as an Operating Department Practitioner in a similar setting
- Excellent knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and instruments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively cooperate with the surgical team
- The ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
- A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy
- A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities

**Working Hours and Compensation**:
This is a temporary position starting on 13/02/2024 and ending on the same day. The shift will begin at 13:00:00 and end at 18:00:00. The payment rate for this role is £135 per shift, and payment will be processed through the PAYE system.
