REVENUE COMPLIANCE OFFICER

LOCATION: ATRIUM COURT/HYBRID WORKING

THE ROLE: To monitor the retail, stock and cash control environment, advise on its effectiveness and enact changes required when weaknesses are identified.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepare an annual programme of control visits at stations, depots and HQ offices in order to review the operation of retail, stock and cash control procedures performed by staff
- Perform the annual programme after approval by the Financial Controller
- Prepare reports to be provided to the Financial Controller which outline the outcome of control visits, identifying any areas of weaknesses and proposing recommended solutions to be approved by the Financial Controller
- Prepare reports to be provided to the supervisory staff with the outcome of visits and any approved recommendations
- Perform follow up visits to confirm recommendations have been taken on
- Monitor the Lennon and Datasys systems as required in order to facilitate the performance of control visits
- Liaise with the Passenger Accounting Manager on issues relating to retail and cash control procedures.
- Conduct special investigations as directed by the Financial Controller.
- Report fraud/irregularities to the Financial Controller and facilitate internal processes, including providing evidence to HR, the BTP, etc.
- Attend service review meeting with Ticket Issuing System suppliers as required.
- Ad hoc duties as directed by the Financial Controller.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential
- An in-depth knowledge of internal control principles.
- Ability to effectively communicate with members of staff at all levels.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Attention to detail.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Travel shop management or supervisory experience.
- IT literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

Desirable
- Understanding of the cash regulations relating to retail outlets.
- A thorough knowledge of all ScotRail retailing processes.
- Strong proficiency in using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Holder of a CIIA qualification or evidence of study towards a CIIA qualification.

Hours of work: 35-hour week Monday - Friday. Reference Salary: £40k - £50k per annum depending on experience.
