Assistant Psychologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced assistant psychologists to work within the Working Age Adult Acute Pathway (WAAAP) on the inpatient’s wards at either one of two sites in Leeds. You will join the qualified psychology team, and be allocated to work across two of the six wards. Up to 3 posts are available.
The ward teams work as an MDT with Nurses, Doctors, MPACS, OTs, Psychological Professionals, Speech and Language therapists, Physiotherapists and Dieticians. The teams work to embed formulation driven and trauma informed care and deliver psychologically informed interventions with compassion to help people re-establish independence and recovery. There is a good governance and leadership structure across the wards.
The main duties of the job will be supporting the psychological work on two of the six wards for working age adults. The assistant will support the formulation work, speaking to families, carers, staff and spending time with service users. They will have opportunity to collect outcome measures for the teams and be involved in evaluation. The assistant will help deliver protocol driven interventions that increase the wellbeing and support recovery of service users, either one to one or in groups, working alongside the whole MDT. The post holder will be supervised closely by psychological professionals.
The successful post holder will need previous experience of working as an assistant in mental health or learning disability settings where they have delivered one to one interventions or group work, or had the opportunity to help develop and use formulations with service users and teams. You need to be able to develop good report with people with complex mental health needs and have enthusiasm for working within an inpatient setting. The work will include working alongside a range of staff, contributing to formulation, conducting assessments, delivering interventions, using outcome measures and taking on tasks that will be linked with service improvement initiatives. There is opportunity to get involved with delivery of training and the post holders will be supported to attend relevant CPD to the post.

To assist in gathering information for and to contribute to development of a formulation for service users.
To assist in the implementation of agreed group or one to one interventions, supervised by a psychologist.
To assist in the preparation of service user reports and letters under the supervision of a clinical psychologist
