The Future is Green project is an exciting partnership project led by Cornwall College, with partners including Truro & Penwith College, Cornwall Marine Network, Celtic Sea Power, University of Exeter, Falmouth University, Focus Training (SW) Ltd, and Urban Biodiversity CIC. This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (IoS) (known as the Good Growth Fund).

The project’s overall aim is to deliver a range of activities to upskill the labour force of Cornwall and the IoS in Green Skills to support the future green economy and provide opportunities for individuals to access and progress within high quality, well-paid jobs. At the University of Plymouth, we will be developing and delivering training to support enterprises to engage with the net-zero agenda; including Climate Literacy, Future Climate Leaders, B-Corp workshops, Carbon Foot-printing. The training will target enterprises in all sectors, including transport, construction and clean energy.

You will have the added benefit of working closely with the new Great-South-West Net-Zero Exchange (NZX) team to develop the training content as well as facilitate knowledge exchange with the university’s academics; drive impact, connect partners, create opportunities and generate value from leading-edge research and education in Cornwall & the IoS.

Based at the University’s Sustainable Earth Institute and located in the University’s newly refurbished Sustainability Hub, some key duties include:

- Leading on the knowledge exchange activity for The Future is Green project in Cornwall & the IoS
- Working with project stakeholders to develop (including university accreditation) and deliver Climate Literacy, Future Climate Leaders, B-Corp workshops, and Carbon Foot-printing training in Cornwall & the IoS, utilising specialist support services where required.
- Working with the other project partners to develop and deliver green skills engagement events, and to spread awareness in Cornwall & the IoS of The Future is Green project
- To build a working knowledge of the net-zero carbon research expertise within the University of Plymouth in order to be able to promptly and accurately respond to enterprise enquiries and identify need.

You must have excellent working knowledge and experience of net-zero carbon in either academic or applied industry context and a proven experience of project management and delivering to deadlines. You must also have experience of course development and delivery. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds and sectors. You will need an ability to network effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including businesses, social enterprises and academics.

Please note - UK Shared Prosperity Fund - this project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as the Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
