Lecturer Paramedic Practice and Out of Hospital

The purpose of the role is to teach knowledge and skills for paramedic students
and other healthcare students in a range of settings and to
facilitate the integration of students’ clinical practice with their academic studies.
To enhance the reputation of the University of Sunderland as a centre of excellence
by engaging with teaching, reach-out and research programmes in Paramedic and
health related topics.
**Key Responsibilities**
**and Accountabilities**:
- Faculty Specific:
- Support innovation and development of placement learning for the programme
- through effective communication- Setting/marking programme work, practical sessions, supervisions, OSCEs and
appropriate, timely feedback to students.
- Contribute to the enhancement of quality in teaching, development of curricula
and innovative teaching methods in the Faculty.
- Oversee the continuous improvement of the programme and placement
portfolio, ensuring the programme meets the internal, external and NMC quality
- drivers.
- Lead on employability aspects of the programme through partnership working,
with academic and external partners.
- Act as an Academic Assessor
- Participate in student recruitment processes and activities
- Contribute to the research activity of the School/Faculty
- Participate in committee work that affects the running and development of
- facilities, policies and procedures within the School/Faculty/University- Represent the School/Faculty to raise the external profile by establishing close
working relationships with the local, national and academic Paramedic
community so as to enhance the student experience.
- Provision of pastoral support to students at all levels

**Academic Practice**
- Agree and manage own teaching, research, reach-out and academic
management/administration responsibilities, with guidance from a mentor if

- Teach as a member of a teaching team in a developing capacity within an
established programme of study.
- Teach in a developing capacity in a variety of settings from small group
tutorials to large lectures.
- Transfer knowledge in the form of practical skills, methods and techniques.
- Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
- Ensure that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the
