**Responsible for**:Supervising Assistant Youth Workers, volunteers and young people during youth work sessions
**Hours of work**:
- **1 x 30 hour contract**:
- **1x 20 hour contract**:
- _both roles will include evening and weekend work._
(Due to the nature of youth work, and supporting a young person led programme, there may also be a requirement to support events / residentials / visits outside of the hours set. These will be negotiated as needed)
**Salary: £22,250 FTE (£11,125.00 actual) with Level 2 Youth Work Qualification. Or £21,500 FTE (£10,750.00 actual) without Level 2.**

**Job Purpose**: Youth workers guide and support young people in their personal, social and educational development, with the aim of helping them reach their full potential and make a successful transition to adulthood.
YMCA Worcestershire (YMCAW) youth workers work in a variety of settings, such as:
- youth centres
- faith-based groups
- sport centres
- schools and colleges
- targeted street work to engage with high-risk young people
- virtual delivery
We are a growing team, currently engaging young people in four areas of Worcestershire, with the aim of developing further provision in other areas of the county. As a Youth and Communities Worker within YMCAW, you'll develop, organise and run community programmes aimed at young people aged, primarily between 8 and 16. Through these programmes, you'll support young people to explore and understand their ideas, values and beliefs; building their confidence and life skills.

**Objective**:To develop relationships with young people, based on respect and trust, ensuring they have a safe place to develop their identity and place in society through ensuring that all work is undertaken within the policies and procedures of the association; so that all staff and young people enjoy a safe environment where they can belong, contribute and thrive.
**To achieve this you will**:
- Work in collaboration with the Youth and Communities Co-ordinator and Youth and Communities Manager to ensure the smooth running of our Youth Service.
- Plan, deliver, facilitate and supervise groups of young people and the activities running at each session. This may include informal learning, social education, workshops, games, arts and crafts, community or environmental projects, outdoor activities, and sporting activities in a variety of settings including face to face, virtual and outreach/detached.
- Help to co-design and deliver targeted and small group interventions in conjunction with community partners.
- Support young people to self-identify areas of informal learning and activities they wish to be available and promote youth-led programmes.
- Administrative duties to include, but not limited to, session planning, generating outcome impact feedback, regular communication between clubs and departments, recording membership, maintaining confidential records and collecting fees in accordance with YMCAW’s procedures.
- Carry out risk assessments as required.
- Develop, facilitate and support youth councils to empower young people to inform decisions that affect their lives and make a difference in their communities.
- Recruit and train new volunteers, maintain an up-to-date database of their skills and personal information and ensure their skillset matches their assigned role.
- Develop and deliver staff training and inductions, gauging the training needs of the individual as well as preparing teaching materials and monitoring training records.
- Create and develop social media strategies with the aim of increasing brand awareness and youth engagement within the local community.
