Applications are invited for a Health and Safety Coordinator to support safety management in the Wellcome - Medical Research Council Cambridge Stem Cell Institute. Our mission is to transform the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease through a deep understanding of how stem cells work. We are based in the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

You will use your laboratory experience and organizational skills to coordinate health and safety management in areas including biological, chemical and physical safety, under the direction of the Departmental Safety Officer and Biological Safety Officer.
You will also support the Human Tissue Act Person Designate by developing and implementing procedures to ensure HTA regulatory compliance.

This is a varied role requiring a dynamic and organised individual who can engage with scientists and support staff alike. You will provide advice and training to others, write and review risk and COSHH assessments, help manage Containment Level 2 laboratories and take a proactive approach to problem solving. As a key point of contact for researchers, you will respond to queries and develop Institute-wide systems for record keeping.

Part-time: this position is 0.6 FTE with the potential to agree a flexible working pattern.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
