Compliance with clinical coding national standards and local policies are an integral part of the role and the post holder must ensure that their personal coding reference materials are routinely updated to reflect changing coding practices. Work towards attainment of Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC status) through ongoing training and appraisal, maintaining a log of personal development.

Time management of given workload to ensure that clinical coding departmental targets are met. This involves the extraction of relevant clinical information from the relevant electronic patient record, followed accurate translation to a clinically coded format and its subsequent data input onto the patient administration system in a timely manner, meeting assigned input targets. The post holder will have strong problem solving abilities and be able to work on their own initiative without constant supervision.
