Cancer Services Project Officer

We are looking to a recruit a Cancer Services Project Officer with a can-do attitude.
The role will provide effective working to deliver the key programme objectives from the Faster Diagnosis Framework, which ensures that patients are diagnosed or have cancer ruled out within 28 days of being referred urgently by their GP for suspected cancer.
Together with stakeholders the successful post holder will ensure the Cancer Services team’s activities support the specialities with quality improvement; ultimately to benefit patient and population health outcomes. You will develop excellent relationships with clinical and administrative staff members across the Acute Trusts to enable delivery of programmes of work that improve diagnostic services.
As the Cancer Services Project Officer, you will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Cancer Services team and the wider improvement programme across Yeovil District Hospital and Musgrove Park Hospital.

To provide a skilled and full range of duties, in support of the NHSE cancer timed pathways and standards, including:
- Preparing documents, reports and materials in readiness for meetings.
- Arranging meetings, booking rooms and hospitality, compiling agendas; taking formal minutes and chasing actions.
- Planning and updating diaries, maintaining effective bring forward systems.
- Updating filing systems (paper and electronic).
- Word processing - typing (including audio) of general correspondence and reports.
- Using proficient internet skills to access, search and retrieve information.
- Handling queries and ensuring that relevant information is imparted, and confidentiality is maintained.
- Setting up virtual meetings, conference calls and webinars.
- Creating and designing presentations using PowerPoint.
- Data input using databases, spreadsheets.
Support the Cancer Services Team by contributing to the scoping and initiation of new projects, co-ordinating project preparation, launch and communications planning.
Organise meetings using own judgement to re-schedule meetings when conflicting priorities arise.
Assist the Cancer Services team in the delivery of such projects, including the management of changing demands and pressures that may impact project delivery. Ensure that when managing or leading change projects effective communication is undertaken, including listening, negotiating, managing and accessing complex pieces of information and often involving persuasive and motivational skills.
To support effective arrangements which are embedded in the NHS adding value to patients, professionals and constituent organisations.
The post-holder is expected to take responsibility for delivery against this job description and annual objectives as agreed in objective setting and appraisal meetings.
Work autonomously and act on own initiative to assist the Cancer Services team by monitoring and chasing progress of on-going projects to ensure that deadlines are met.

Maintain and manage remote monitoring of cancer patients. Supporting and working closely with the clinical teams, following processes, and ensuring systems are kept up to date.
When required supporting the Somerset Colorectal Hub with daily tasks which involves administration, liaising with GP practices and patients to ensure the GP referral is processed as timely and effectively as possible.
