**Job summary**:
Our friendly, dynamic and talented team on Ward 518 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital requires an experienced nurse to join us as Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
A passion for acute medical and infectious disease nursing is a must, with proven communication skills, good time management skills; enthusiasm and the ability to be flexible and work under pressure are the qualities that will enable you to fulfil this role.

You will act as role model for the nursing team. Additionally you will be able to provide professional leadership, motivation, direction and inspiration to all members of the Multidisciplinary Team.

We can offer a supportive environment with a strong commitment to continuing professional development. Previous experience working in this area is desirable but not essential as full training and support will be given. If you have a passion for putting the patient at the heart of everything you do, and are looking to develop your skills as a leader, we would love to hear from you.

- Registered Adult Nurse on NMC register

**Desirable**:

- Health care management / Leadership Qualification

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Professional Portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
- Substantial relevant and recent clinical experience within a complex health care setting or Acute NHS setting working as a deputy Manager Band 6 position including the supervision and education of junior staff/ students.
- Can demonstrate understanding / experience / in practice based supervision / assessment as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council ( NMC ) standards for student supervision and assessment
- Demonstrable current, recent experience of team leadership and management within the healthcare setting.
- Demonstrable understanding of the management responsibility for pay and non-pay resources associated with the clinical service.
- Evidence of effective multi-professional working.
- Experience of being a mentor
- Demonstration of a significant contribution to innovative practice or change management
- Experience in interviewing and selection of staff
- Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice
- Demonstrate an ability, experience, passion in the following areas. (E )
