**Job summary**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced dietitian who is interested in enhancing leadership and service development skills in a Band 7 Team Leader role to lead the Surgery dietetic team and develop the surgery specialism. Is this you?

You will lead a team of Band 6, Band 5 dietitians and dietetic assistants providing specialist dietetic input to Vascular surgery, trauma and orthopaedic and general surgery patients.

You will be an integral part of the dietetic leadership team working alongside 3 other Band 7 team leads who working across Acute Medicine, Specialist Medicine, Surgery and Stroke

The team has recently been reconfigured and redesigned with opportunities to develop the team to optimise service delivery.

Substantial post registration experience in an acute NHS hospital setting is required providing a broad range of dietetic clinical experience.

We are looking for an innovative, self motivated dietitian. Excellent leadership, team working, organisational and time management skills are essential.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Excellent communication skills and a flexible approach will be key requirements as you will be co-ordinating a team of dietitians working across 3 hospital sites alongside therapy colleagues to lead and meet clinical need whilst facilitating discharge.

You will lead a core team of dietitians and dietetic assistants within the surgery team as well as support cover arrangements across a larger dietetic team. In addition you will carry a caseload of complex patients and provide peer support and supervision to dietitians in the team to enhance skill development particularly important as the team includes newly qualified dietitians.

Enthusiasm for quality improvement, teaching and coaching and development of the service is essential. The postholder will be required to support ongoing training and development of the Medical Surgical dietetic team.

**Essential**:
Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.

A levels or equivalent qualification

Degree in dietetics or equivalent.

Current Registration with HCPC.

**Experience**:
**Essential**:
Demonstration of clinical experience enabling

post holder to manage a complex caseload of patients

Demonstration of significant experience in managing /leading others

Experience of training other staff / student

dietitians.

Previous experience of conducting audits and/or research

Good clinical knowledge of specialist area of team to manage.

Understanding of audit, clinical effectiveness and its importance in the provision of a quality service.

Awareness of local needs, eg; ethnic minority and low income groups.

Broad dietetic knowledge of relevant specialism.

Evidence of CPD.

Awareness and commitment to staff CPD.

Awareness and commitment to appraisal system.
